When 3D printing wins: any application requiring low-volume custom parts (<500 units), frequent design revisions, per-unit variation, or complex internal geometry. CNC machining is preferred when the part requires production-grade metal properties or tight tolerances (<0.05 mm). 01 — Share Your Requirements
Tell us what you need: an enclosure for a specific PCB, a bracket that fits a precise installation, a replacement part for discontinued equipment, or a custom consumer product you want to manufacture. Send CAD files if you have them (.STEP, .IGS, .SLDPRT, .IPT, .3DM, .F3D, .STL, .OBJ, .3MF) or provide reference dimensions, photographs, sketches, or a description of the function and environment. We can reverse-engineer from physical samples if needed.
02 — Design & Engineering Review
Our engineers evaluate the design for printability, material suitability, and functional performance. We recommend orientation for optimal strength, adjust tolerances for mating parts, add support geometry where needed, and select the best material for your use case (temperature, UV, impact, chemical exposure, food contact). A digital proof and fixed-price quote are provided before any production begins.
03 — Production & Post-Processing
We manufacture on the optimal printer for your geometry, size, and material — FDM for functional parts, SLA for aesthetic finish, multi-material for color or overmold simulation. Post-processing includes support removal, surface finishing (sanding, polishing, vapor smoothing if specified), threaded insert installation, and dimensional inspection of critical features. Every part is photographed and measured before shipment.
04 — Delivery & Iteration
Parts are shipped within 2–5 days of approval. Need a revision? Update the CAD and we print the next version — no tooling charges, no reprogramming fees, just material and machine time. Once the design is frozen, ALT can produce ongoing runs on demand with consistent quality and pricing. We also recommend when to transition to injection molding or CNC for higher volumes.
