Advanced Life Technologies is a Santa Barbara company, and we've never treated that as a detail. Affordable prosthetics
At the core of our community engagement is a simple but important idea: essential medical devices shouldn't be out of reach. By combining biomimetic engineering with additive manufacturing, we've developed low-cost, high-performance prosthetics — making them accessible to a broader range of people, regardless of economic status.
Internships that open doors
We run a hands-on internship program in Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Additive Manufacturing, and Business. Our cohorts have included women, people of color, individuals of different sexual orientations, and veterans — helping build a more inclusive and diverse workforce right here in Santa Barbara.
Supporting local makers
We offer prototyping services to local businesses and organizations, sharing our capabilities so that innovation and economic growth can happen across the Central Coast — not just here.
Hundreds of masks for Cottage Hospital
When the COVID-19 pandemic created critical shortages in personal protective equipment, we turned our 3D printing capabilities toward the community. We produced hundreds of face masks for Cottage Hospital — doing our part when it mattered most.
Building the next generation of engineers.
We're deeply connected to the local business and education community. Through the Central Coast Chamber of Commerce, we've contributed to committees focused on improving the workforce development pipeline for the region.
In the classroom, we've partnered with Santa Barbara City College, UC Santa Barbara, and local high schools to align curricula with what industry actually needs — so graduates leave with in-demand skills. And at events like SBCC Industry Day, we give students the chance to sit with working professionals and see where their careers could go.
Beyond education, we've supported efforts to strengthen Santa Barbara's infrastructure — especially power resiliency, which matters enormously to the local manufacturing companies that depend on it.
